We have gotten quite a few questions about the Secret Loot available in the World of Warcraft sets. So here is a short run-down with previews of everything available.
Let’s start with the packaging; Starting with the Barrens Chase set and going up by price, the bigger sets come with Secret Mystery Loot. This loot comes in a small black plastic baggie, with a treasure chest printed on it. This baggie contains one piece of loot, and is COMPLETELY random. No loot comes with specific sets, it is just random. Below is a list of all of the available items, with pictures scanned from the Stormwind Instruction Booklet. The names of each piece link to the WoWHead entry for more information about the in-game location of each item.
Judgement Crown
This is one of the most iconic head pieces in the game. This helmet is from the Raid Tier 2 Paladin armor set: The Judgement Armor. This helmet originally dropped from Onyxia, and was revamped during Wrath of the Lich King. When Transmogrification was announced, every Paladin in the game jumped to get this armor. It is one of the most popular item sets in the game, and has been completely represented in the first wave of the Mega Bloks sets. The chest and legs are available on a Tauren Paladin with the Goblin Zepplin; The shoulders come with Colton the Human Paladin in the faction packs; And finally the helm is available from the Mystery Loot.
Repainted Lich King’s Helm AKA Helm of Dominance
This helm is not obtainable in game, but has quite a bit of story behind it. I am not going to spoil the story of Wrath of the Lich King, at least not openly. Below is the story of this helm, consider that the SPOILER ALERT.
This helm once belonged to Arthas Menethil, or at least what his body became. The Lich King was brought to justice by Tirion Fordring at the end of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. At the end of the ending cinematic, we saw Bolvar Fordragon take the helm and inherit the role of the Lich King. He was already undead, brought back to life by Alexstraza’s flame at the Wrathgate. The eternally burning Bolvar’s burning eyes made the helm look bronzed/rusted instead of the blackened silver when Arthas wore it. This piece of Mystery Loot embodies that change.
Sanctified Scourgelord Faceguard/Helmet(Heroic)
Sadly, there is not a lot to say about this helmet. It is one of the best looking Death Knight tier helmets, In my opinion. It is part of Tier 10, which was current during the tail end of Wrath of the Lich King. This helmet specifically is the matching helmet for Graven, the Worgen Death Knight available in the Swift Gryphon set. The red coloration of this set signifies that it is from the Heroic 25-man mode of Icecrown Citadel, the “Hard Mode” of that instance with the largest group requirement. Obtaining this helmet when it was current was not an easy feat, and can still be challenging for unprepared players.
Drakesfire Epaulets
With Ragerock looking like a standard Orc Grunt, this repaint was inevitable. The shoulders are Standard Orc Grunt shoulders with Gold instead of steel details. They would make a wonderful upgrade for Ragerock, or turn any other character into an Orgrimmar Grunt. There’s no real lore to go along with these… Just a good solid repaint.
Damselfish Shoulderguards or Fallen Snow Shoulderguards or Tooranu’s Spaulders or Burden of Lost Humanity
If you can’t tell, Blizzard used this model for quite a few of the shoulders available in Cataclysm. These shoulders are also repainted a few times among the figures available. There’s no real lore here either, they are just reused a lot in game, and by Mega Bloks.
Mana-Etched Spaulders
These shoulders are specifically the Mage Dungeon Tier 3. They are from the Heroic version of the Slave Pens from all the way back in Burning Crusade. The set itself is reused in game a few times, and this is the third time they are available from Mega Bloks. Valoren (the Blood Elf priest in the Faction Packs) and Mythrin (the Night Elf Priest available with the Stormwind set) are both wearing these shoulders, though Mythrin’s are meant to be the Blessed Mantle of Undead Cleansing.
Red
Shard of Azzinoth or Vengeful Gladiator’s Mutilator
This dagger looks like a red version of the iconic dagger dropped by Illidan in the Burning Crusade. The green dagger has a CRAZY glow that people love for transmogrification, and the red version could be emulated in-game with a Fiery Weapon enchant on the Vengeful Gladiator’s Mutilator(Although this won’t work for Transmogrification). There isn’t much lore surrounding this dagger, but it was VERY popular during the Burning Crusade and is one of the most common daggers used for Transmog. Valeera Sanguinar dual-wielded these daggers during the Battle for Undercity, which is no longer in the game.
Shaarde The Greater or Illidari-Bane Claymore
I recognized this sword instantly as Shaarde. It is re-used as a quest reward in Shadowmoon Valley as well, so it’s fitting that Mega Bloks has made it available multiple times. The Mystery Loot version looks to have more painted detail than Ragerock(Orc Warrior in the Faction Packs) or Tanaver(Night Elf Warrior in the Barrens Chase), but remains largely similar.
Soul Releaser
This staff is available in the Halls of Origination and has a regular and heroic version. It is a recolor in the game of the which is available in the Barrens Chase with Dragath the Orc Warlock. This staff isn’t particularly iconic, but certainly saw some use during the beginning of Cataclysm. Overall a unique staff, with a pretty cool look. A decent choice from Mega Bloks for random loot that everyone might not be familiar with.
Gorehowl
This axe being available in game as an Epic is borderline disrespectful. This axe should be LEGENDARY at the minimum. Gorehowl practically has its own lore. The axe of Garrosh Hellscream currently, gifted to him by Thrall personally, belonged to his father (Legend of Azeroth) Grom Hellscream. This axe was responsible for the demise of the Pit Lord Mannoroth, and even killed the demigod Cenarius. It is now wielded by the leader of the Horde. To say this axe is iconic is an understatement. This axe is legendary.
Red
Demise
A red recolor of one of the most iconic Death Knight maces in the game. Demise drops in Naxxaramas, at the beginning of the expansion that introduced the Death Knight class. There is not a red recolor in-game, so this is a completely Mega Bloks created item. The item in-game doesn’t show enchant effects, so you cannot re-create it in-game.
Skullstealer Greataxe
This axe was not very common, but popular among Retribution Paladins after a shakeup in stat weights during Cataclysm. There isn’t much else to say about this axe, as it has little to no lore behind it.
Axe of Rin’ji
This axe has been reused a few times in game, and so it’s fitting that Mega Bloks also repainted it 3 times. Arguably, there is no axe in-game that matches this one perfectly, but the axe that Colton (Human Paladin in the Faction packs) comes with matches Demonfork perfectly. So another great choice for multiple uses from Mega Bloks. Let’s just hope they don’t use it anymore.
Lola’s Lifegiving Branch
Another Wrath of the Lich King item model that was used quite a few times. No exciting lore here, just a green repaint of the Lightning Giant Staff that Markov (Human Warlock from the Demolisher Attack set) is using.
Eternally Folded Blade
So we finish off with another Wrath of the Lich King blue quality item. It is a recolor of the Cursed Lich Blade that comes with Krazzle (Goblin Rogue on the Zepplin set). Neither use of the item has any lore attached, but they both use a unique model that is pretty cool. This model is reused a few more times in-game, leaving a green coloration that we do not see in any set.
So that’s what is out there in the wild, and available. What’s coming in the next wave? Normally I would say “How would I know? Mega Bloks is super secretive about unannounced products.” BUT! I have a great picture from Toy Fair that I can definitively say: HERE’S WHAT’S COMING IN THE NEXT WAVE.

In that picture we can see: Judgement Crown, The Sanctified Scourgelord Helmet, Gorehowl, Warglaive of Azzinoth, Axe of the Tauren Chieftains , A Blue Eternally Folded Blade, Soul Releaser, Axe of Rin’ji, A Red Lightning Giant Staff, A Weird Yellow and Purple Shaarde The Greater, Drakesfire Epaulets, Damselfish Shoulderguards, Mana-Etched Spaulders, Orange Demise, and a Yellow Shard of Azzinoth.
Wait. What?
Yeah, in February, Mega Bloks had this at their Toy Fair booth. This is most of the secret loot and one BIG item they left out: Warglaive of Azzinoth. Or if you really want to get down to semantics, It might also be Warglaive of Azzinoth. These Legendary items are the warglaives of Illidan himself. Personally, I’m hoping this points to a Illidan set release in wave 2.
great wright up
Thanks!
do you think they will show off any of the wave 2 in Toronto?
Nah. I think they’re focusing on the Forward Unto Dawn set at Fan Expo…
But after the e-mail I got from Mega Bloks this morning, anything is possible.
cant leave me hanging like that haha
thanks for the info man! i love the toy’s but never played the game lol
I like the idea of random loot because it’s somewhat true to the game, but if you kill a boss in the game and it doesn’t drop your loot, you just rerun the instance again with how often you can run the instance mitigated by the type, be it a dungeon, heroic, or raid.
You don’t have to shell out $30-$100 per boss.
Given that they want to do the whole random loot thing, why not just have certain pieces go with certain sets? It’s not like the bigger sets can’t stand on their own anyway. Even the $2-$4
halo/marvel/etc loot bags have codes on them so you know what you’re getting and $3 is not that big an investment.
Personally, I think placing truly random loot inside is discouraging. It’s like buying a pack of cards for the chance at something rare, except the pack only comes with one other card that you know you’re getting before you even open the pack, and the pack costs $50.

Sorry for the double post…my phones ability to edit text is abominable.
I can understand your frustration, and I’m right there with you. I didn’t purchase multiples of any of the sets, and I didn’t either of the pieces of loot that I really wanted.
Hopefully we’ll see random loot with the blind bag figures, if they decide to release some.
I think they will. WoW is the type of franchise that demands customization. They might be concerned that they’ll get a flood of “suggestions” about how they absolutely need to make a mold of every item in the game.
I think if they stuck to tier sets, they’d probably be in pretty good shape for the most part. I have 9 characters with their own xmog sets and they’re all wearing some derivative of a dungeon/raid sets. What more can we ask for?
I agree completely. I’d love to see Druid Tier 2 in any form. I’ll repaint it myself, if I need to make my character.
Sculpting my own warglaives
The glaives and the axe are AWESOME. Keep up the good work!
I subscribed to the form to post in the forms a week ago and still do not have a account setup e-mail confirming it and I still can’t log in.
Please help
Thank you
I manually activated your account. So you should be able to login and post now. If you have any other problems drop me an e-mail to Aaron AT BlizzBloks.com and I’ll be happy to get you straightened out.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
I’m disappointed and distraught that the loot is random. I watched a video of someone opening their Lich King set, and I opened mine, and we got the same loot. So I assumed it was just a secret item assigned to the set. I came here to confirm my curiosity (as there is more loot than loot sets). I don’t know about collecting each product now as I’d have to go on ebay and overpay for items I do not have.
Aaron,
Great detail and info, it would also be cool to have break down and info on all the figure pieces too.
would be nice if they put random loot in the faction packs and with the mounts. The loot that i want is the Gorehowl and the Eternally Folded Blade
That would be REALLY cool, but I think the loot is meant to be an incentive to buy multiples of the larger sets. If the loot were in the smaller sets (like the faction packs) people would just army-build the Faction packs.
How did you make that weapon rack?? I love it!
I didn’t, Mega Bloks did. It was used at Toy Fair 2012.
